Is Tamagotchi
still made?
Confirmed through Bandai's active Original Tamagotchi catalog, which identifies the current model as using the same programming as the 1997 version.
The short history
Tamagotchi arrived in the United States in 1997 and turned a tiny egg-shaped keychain into a surprisingly demanding virtual-pet routine. Its beeps followed owners through school days, errands and bedtime.
What survived
Feeding, cleaning, medicine, discipline and the suspense of raising a creature from an egg remain the central routine.
What changed
It is a revival, not uninterrupted production; Bandai now offers many shell designs alongside newer Tamagotchi systems with different features.
Current versions
Bandai's current Original line recreates the early programming in numerous shells. Newer families such as Connection, Uni and Paradise should be treated as related descendants rather than identical replacements.
