Is Lite-Brite
still made?
Confirmed as an active Basic Fun! brand with Classic, Mini, Touch and wall-art formats.
The short history
Introduced in 1967, Lite-Brite made pictures glow by pushing translucent pegs through a dark template in front of a light source. For many children, the tiny click of a peg and the first illuminated pattern were the whole magic trick.
What survived
Colored pegs still create glowing pictures against a dark surface, including a current Classic version.
What changed
Modern versions use updated lighting, new peg formats and licensed or display-oriented designs.
Current versions
A Classic version retains the peg-picture idea. The wider line now includes mini, touch-based, licensed and display-oriented formats, so not every item sold under the name recreates the same tabletop experience.
