Is Slinky
still made?
Confirmed through Just Play’s active official page for The Original Slinky metal walking spring and its current Slinky brand catalog.
The short history
Slinky debuted in 1945 after a tension spring toppled from a shelf and appeared to walk. Generations later, the goal remains deceptively simple: find the right stairs and persuade one continuous coil to keep stepping.
What survived
A coiled steel spring still transfers its weight from one step to the next with the same sound and motion.
What changed
The classic metal version remains, while the wider current line adds plastic rainbows, extreme sizes and character products.
Current versions
Just Play sells the Original metal walking spring along with colorful plastic, oversized and themed versions. The standard 2.75-inch metal model is the closest match to the familiar original.
